Sports

Puketaha offers a range of sports through the school. This relies heavily on parent support with which we are currently fortunate to have. We welcome any new and existing parents to help out with coaching and managing wherever possible.

Netball: Terms 2 and 3. Is organised within the school. Teams start at Year 1 and play either after school or on Saturday mornings at Minogue park. Netball is a popular sport at school with over 75 students participating in 2023.

Touch Rugby: Terms 1 and 4. Is organised through the school. Teams start as early as New Entrants through to Year 8’s. Year 1-6 compete in the Flagstaff competition which is currently held Monday after school (times vary). The Year 7 & 8s compete in the Swarbrick Park competition which is currently held Monday after school.

Summer Hockey: Terms 1 - 4. Is organised through the school. Teams are multi levelled from Year 0 - 8, dependent on numbers. We do our best to keep the ages as close together as possible. Games are played at Innes Common on Tuesday afternoons. Terms 1 and 4 are Summer Hockey whilst Winter Hockey is in Terms 2 and 3.

Basketball: Terms 1 - 4. Is organised through the school. Currently there are six Basketball teams at school. Game days vary and are dependent on age/ year level. These games take place in the afternoon at either YMCA, Fraser High School or The Peak.

Volleyball: Terms 2 and 3. Is organised through the school. Teams are created based on interest. We do our best to place students with friendship gorups where possible. Games are played at The Peak in nearby Rototuna. Currently we have a growing interest of Volleyball with over 50 students registered to play in the four week competition.

Rugby, Football and Cricket - Terms 1 - 4. All Rugby and Football Saturday games (and Cricket weekday games) are organised through Sports Clubs. We believe that clubs are fantastic organisations and where possible encourage children to play for the club.
